Finding professional and community support
Telephone, clinical and peer support — what each offers, and how to reach it.
Telephone quitlines
In the United States, 1-800-QUIT-NOW connects callers to state quitlines offering coaching, often at no cost. The CDC describes quitlines as a source of counseling and information about medicines.
Services and hours differ by state and country, and LYVRO has not verified availability outside the United States. A quick call to check what is offered locally is reasonable.
Clinical and counseling support
USPSTF recommends behavioral interventions and FDA-approved cessation pharmacotherapy for nonpregnant adults who use tobacco. For pregnant persons, it recommends behavioral interventions; evidence is insufficient to determine the balance of benefits and harms of cessation pharmacotherapy. Insufficient evidence is not proof of ineffectiveness or an absolute contraindication.
If a first conversation feels unhelpful, asking for a different option is a legitimate next step rather than a complaint.
Friends, family and community
Smokefree.gov offers guidance for people supporting someone who is quitting, including what helps and what tends to add pressure.
The linked resources offer ways to find support and help someone who is quitting. They do not establish how peer or online communities compare with counseling or medication for quitting outcomes. The coverage label describes this collection, not the effectiveness of a particular community.

Source checks are editorial checks, not clinician verification. 4 sources in this selection. Program eligibility and local availability must be confirmed with the provider. Saving discovery resources requires the reviewed private-storage release, so nothing here is saved to an account.
The publication date is the one the publisher states on the page LYVRO links to. Where a publisher states none, the entry says so rather than showing an estimate or a date LYVRO chose. The link check date is the day an editor last opened this entry's destination and confirmed it resolved. That is an editorial check of a link. It is not proof that the external page has not changed since, and it is not clinician verification.
